The Botijero
El Botijero is a project designed by Lola Castelo Díaz, a graduate of Nebrija University, that seeks to revitalize the use of the traditional Spanish botijo. The main objective is to highlight the value of this historical, functional, and sustainable object by adapting it to contemporary ergonomic needs without losing its original essence.

Although the botijo stands out for the simplicity and efficiency of its design, its traditional use can be ergonomically challenging for many users. The project emerges as a way to modernize this experience through an accessory specifically designed to accompany the botijo.
The device is based on a simple yet effective mechanism that facilitates water serving: a stable metal base structure and a pivoting ring that holds the botijo, allowing it to tilt smoothly. Thanks to this system, the user can effortlessly pour water directly into a glass, offering an alternative to the traditional method of drinking “from the spout” directly into the mouth.
This accessory not only improves comfort and hygiene when drinking, but also transforms the botijo into a central piece on the contemporary table. It is a solution that respects the historical value of the object while making it accessible to all types of users in the modern home.
