Carcasa EMT Málaga

The enclosure for EMT Málaga information displays is an industrial design project developed by ROJOmandarina for the integration of information technologies into the urban public space. The proposal enables the secure and functional incorporation of low-energy digital screens and accessible audio systems, while remaining respectful of the surrounding environment and avoiding visually intrusive solutions.

The project focuses on a robust and durable protective structure, designed for outdoor use and adapted to the demands of the urban environment: weather resistance, impact protection, and ease of maintenance. The enclosure is conceived as a neutral and timeless element, capable of integrating with existing architecture and urban furniture without the need for major structural interventions.

The design prioritizes structural clarity, technical efficiency, and user experience, incorporating a slight tilt that improves legibility and reduces glare. Manufactured in stainless steel, the enclosure was developed in three versions, adapted to different urban deployment contexts across the city.

Ana Monreal Carretero is an Industrial Design and Product Development Engineer from the University of Málaga, with a Master’s degree in Business Administration in the Knowledge Economy. She is co-founder of ROJOmandarina, an Andalusian design studio from which she leads product design, urban solutions and spatial design projects, accompanying processes from strategy through to implementation. Her work is characterized by an approach that combines technical functionality, creativity, user experience and context, and has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including several CLAP Awards, the Iron A’ Design Award and the Novum Design Award. Alongside her professional practice, she is also involved in training, consultancy and outreach activities related to design, sustainability and project management, collaborating with universities and innovation-oriented organizations. She actively promotes design in Andalusia as a member of the Andalusian Designers Association and the FAECTA Territorial Committee.
