SIGNA

 SIGNA

SIGNA is much more than a board game; it is a bridge designed to connect children with hearing disabilities with their hearing family members and friends. Created by Alba Jiménez Árias from the University of Cádiz, this project aims to foster inclusive communication through playful learning of Spanish Sign Language (LSE).

The game is designed for children aged five and above and is based on the visual and cooperative construction of sentences. It stands out for its friendly aesthetic and high-quality materials. Card holders and supports are organized by themes and colors to facilitate understanding, while a board reinforces visual communication through drawing. A timer adds excitement and dynamism to the gameplay, and pawns and dice—classic board game elements—are adapted to the project’s visual language.

As the project’s motto states, “Because communicating is not just speaking, it is truly understanding.” SIGNA removes the frustration of isolation and empowers deaf children, allowing them to take the lead in an activity where everyone learns together.
