LUi

 LUi

LUi is a high-fidelity clinical training simulator specifically designed for students and healthcare professionals to practice the assessment of infant swallowing in a safe, controlled, and risk-free environment.

Pediatric dysphagia is a critical condition that affects a significant portion of the child population:

-Between 25% and 45% of children in general experience swallowing disorders.

-This figure increases dramatically to up to 80% in children with developmental disorders.

A delayed or incorrect diagnosis can lead to serious consequences such as malnutrition, aspiration pneumonia, chronic lung damage, or even loss of life. Currently, diagnoses depend almost exclusively on the clinician’s sensory expertise: their ability to rely on touch, hearing, and observation.

The three pillars on which LUi is based are:

-Safe Skill Acquisition: provides the opportunity to practice repeatedly, learn from mistakes, and receive feedback without compromising patient safety.

-Auditory Clinical Training: develops diagnostic listening skills through exposure to representative swallowing and breathing sounds.

-Tactile and Palpatory Learning: enables the recognition of key anatomical landmarks through clinical touch for accurate assessment.

Why is LUi essential?

Infants cannot describe their symptoms. Professionals must rely entirely on their trained senses.

Training must be safe. Learning directly with infants involves significant clinical risk.

High-fidelity tools. Unlike other methods, LUi offers unprecedented clinical realism.
